Community-based criminal justice programs are an integral part of the criminal justice system in New York State. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) implemented a fidelity and technical assistance system to monitor and improve the quality of service delivery provided by funded programs based on the Correctional Program Checklist (CPC) developed by the University of Cincinnati.
The Research and Evaluation Center and the Department of Criminal Justice at John Jay College were awarded a grant to conduct fidelity reviews with several programs across New York City that provide community-based services to offender populations. The fidelity reviews confirm the extent to which programs were operating in ways consistent with the CPC.
