Jeffrey Butts is director of the Research & Evaluation Center at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, an adjunct member of the doctoral faculty in the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and a member of the Science Advisory Board for the Office of Justice Programs in the U.S. Department of Justice. Previously he was a research fellow with Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago and director of the Program on Youth Justice at the Urban Institute. His work focuses on discovering and improving policies and programs for youth involved in the justice system. Jeff has authored dozens of publications including books and book chapters, reports for government agencies, and articles in peer-reviewed, academic journals. His research findings and policy views have been covered by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Economist, National Public Radio, CBS News, and many other media sources.
